The Desert Hawks R/C Club (DHRCC) located in Lake Havasu, AZ has a flying field in SARA Park. Many pictures of the flying field are pictured on the pages of this web site. The DHRCC has an intro pilot training program that helps teach new members to fly radio controlled aircraft {with the use of a buddy box system} and they also give demo flights on a club trainer {October thru April}. AMA membership is required to join this chartered club, below is a link to the AMA {Academy of Model Aeronautics} web site and there you will find much information about this rewarding hobby. You will also be able to print an application for membership in the AMA. In the mean time click on the file below for an application to the Desert Hawks.

Links to two great shops {and happen to be located here in Havasu} can be found on my web pages and they are Major Hobby and the other is Sky Shark Models.        {Look for the links and visit the web sites.}
Have you seen a picture of the latest pilot to solo with the Desert Hawks?
For many of you that have  the Great Planes  R/C simulator, or will start out with a R/C simulator and would like to see what it is like to fly at the Desert Hawks Sterling Field, you can do so by downloading the field to your Real Flight simulator simply by visiting the Real Flight swap page and click on Flying Sites, then go to page 3 and scroll down until you see the information for LHC Sterling Field by John Gunther . I know some of our winter visitors have downloaded this field so that they can continue to fly at this field back home. {I love the short runway approach right to left} Click on the link to Great Planes for the down load of the field or simply use your Simulator program to link to the swap page.

Pictured to the right is a device to add to the safety factor when charging Lipo batteries, I can't say that I recommend the device, however it appears to be something to consider. {place cursor over picture to see inside of the Battery Bunker} Below is the manufacturers claim.

The Battery Bunker. The battery bunker is the safest way to charge, discharge, and store your lithium batteries. It features a twist lock lid that will contain your battery safely during charging. Extremely strong, it is hand made of high-fired ceramic stoneware. It measures 4" wide by 6" high (shown with a 2100 mah Thunder Power) and is only $12.95.
Flying electrics and using Lipo batteries? Here is some information about an ESC used to shut off voltage to the motor at the correct voltage to allow enough battery to operate receiver and servos to land and still not drain the batteries below the safe point for Li Po packs.
